Rupert Murdoch’s firm might be facing tough times in UK and the US but in India, it has been experiencing growth since past 20 years.
Things got easier in India, when FDI allowed 100% foreign ownership in broadcast and media outlets. But, strong rules for foreign ownership in print media by 26% limited their entry.

ZEE FY10 Consolidated Earnings Surge 18%

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited has registered a growth of 18.09% in its consolidated net profit after tax (PAT) for the year ended March 31, 2010.
The company's consolidated net PAT during the period under review stood at Rs 6,165.60 million as against Rs 5,221.10 million during the same period of the last year.
Al Jazeera English now available on SkyCable for Philippines

From the 15th August, the channel is available to SkyCable’s digital subscribers in metro Manila. Al Jazeera English has over 150 million household’s viewers worldwide.
Saurindra Barua is the new MD of FremantleMedia India

This is the first step taken by FremantleMedia in India for its on-the-ground production units.
Mr. Barua will be answerable to Patrick Schult, FremantleMedia Asia’s CEO.
Now, Mr. Barua will operate from Mumbai.
Previously, Mr. Barua was VP and regional chief financial officer (AsiaPac) for Discovery Asia and was based in Singapore.
Partnership between Dish TV and Yatra.com to launch ‘Travel Active’

In a statement, the company’s official said that this service will help viewers to search and book holiday packages, hotels, international and domestic airline tickets at lower prices.
Disney raises stake to 50% in UTV Software

According to the sources, the company has become the majority shareholder of UTV Software Communications by acquiring more than 50 percent stake in it.
The sources further revealed that Walt Disney recently purchased about 20 percent of UTV shares from the open market and raised its ownership in the company to more than 50 percent.
