Gopal Das Is The New CMD Of BSNLFinally, telecom operator BSNL has discovered a suitable head for itself.   

Mr. Gopal Das is ready to replace Kuldeep Goyal as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the country's biggest telecommunication company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd BSNL.

Kuldeep Goyal will retire on 31st July, 2010.

Almost 10,000 BSNL engineers called for an indefinite strike from today calling for a higher wage revision. Seven BSNL unions containing 150,000 non-executive employees will start their strike from Aug 19 midnight to Aug 20 noons.

Some employees of the state-run telecom provider will also quit their works along with BSNL engineers for the next two days. The strike would impact BSNL’s services throughout the country.

BSNL to deploy WiMAX across Goa-IDC

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), the state-owned telecommunications company, has announced that it has signed up a partnership deal with Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) to deploy wireless broadband network (WiMAX) across Goa-IDC's 19 industrial estates.

Under this deal, BSNL's technology partner for Mobile WiMAX, US-based SOMA Networks, will set up its FlexMAX System, which will provide a high speed wireless DSL quality broadband. The broadband service will work with a simple plug-and-play indoor device called the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).
