Wipro, Axway inks pact to offer B2B service

Wipro Technologies, India's second largest software exporter has announced that it has clinched a pact with Axway with the aim to provide business-to-business (B2B) integration and electronic data interchange (EDI) managed services using a software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
B2B refers to electronic transactions between and among companies and their employees and suppliers. It entails the transaction of goods or services between businesses as opposed to between a business and a consumer.
Axway is a worldwide software conglomerate offering collaborative business solutions.
According to the sources, the managed services would feature pay-as-you-go pricing, resulting in lower maintenance and IT skills preservation.
The sources further disclosed that Wipro-Axway solution, will allow conglomerates to outsource non-core business opertaions, improve efficiencies and also capture and track critical events across their extended supply chains.
According to the reports, Wipro can either host Axway's software for the customer or control the customer`s B2B and EDI operations, depending upon the customer needs and Internet-based or "cloud computing" strategies.
Stock of Wipro closed at Rs 218, down 1.73 percent on National Stock Exchange (NSE). The total volume of shares traded at NSE was 1,412,487.
