Orchid Chemicals gets USFDA approval for divalproex tablets

Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, a leading Chennai-based pharma major, has revealed that it has got its abbreviated new drug application sanctioned form US Food and Drug Administration to sell anti-epilepsy drug Divalproex sodium tablets in the US.

The company has been allowed to market the drug in the strengths of 125 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg.

According the sources, Divalproex sodium is indicated to control seizures in the treatment of epilepsy. The drug is also recommended in the treatment of mania and to help prevent migraine headaches.

The sources further said that India-based conglomerates like Sun Pharma and Lupin have also got similar approvals in the recent past.

Scrip of Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals has finally ended into green with a gain of 3.21 percent at Rs 83.7 on National Stock Exchange (NSE). The total volume of shares traded at NSE was 155,184.
