India's Bharat Heavy gets contract from Oman

India-based Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd announced that it has won an order worth Rs 2000 crore from Oman.
Under the contract, the state-owned power equipment firm will supply 126 megawatt gas turbine generator packages for various power projects envisaged by Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO).
According to the sources, the proposed pact will initially be valid for six fiscals with an option to extend it further by three years, during which Petroleum Development can acquire additional units from BHEL.
The sources further revealed that from the said contract BHEL expects business of 20 billion rupees ($400 million) over the coming 6-7 years.
According to the company officials, this contract will further increase BHEL`s long term visibility in the overseas petroleum sector for power plant equipment, which is expected to pave the way for similar opportunities from the hydrocarbon exploration and production majors global.
BHELs Hyderabad plant will manufacture and supply gas turbines and associated equipment for the contract, whereas high-tech control systems will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL`s electronics division, Bangalore.
The reports said that earlier BHEL had carried out four engineering procurement and construction (EPC) projects for PDO.
Stock of Bharat Heavy Electricals settled well at Rs 1,357, up 7 percent on National Stock Exchange (NSE). The total volume of shares traded at NSE was 2,381,797.
