Mercedes-Benz aims to set up finance arm in India

Mercedes Benz, a leading German-based luxury car maker has announced that its Indian subsidiary, Mercedes-Benz India, is considering to build a vehicle finance arm in India with the aim to boost its passenger cars and commercial vehicles sales in the country.
According to the sources, the sales have crashed down in the last two months because of tight liquidity.
While commenting on the plans, Mr. Wilfried Aulbur ,CEO and MD of Mercedes Benz stated, “the financial crisis is finite and the markets will bounce back.
We are committed to our investments in the country because we have gone through a similar period in the past. At this point, we are still evaluating the option of launching our vehicle finance services.”
The sources further revealed that in India Mercedes Benz has already exceeded its sales target for cars and commercial vehicles this fiscal because of strong demand up to September.
According to the reports, the Daimler group owner of Mercedes-Benz brand offers financing, leasing, insurance and fleet-management as part of its financial providing. The Indian arm currently has linked up with ICICI Bank for financing its vehicles.
