BoB opens new electronic branch in UAE

Bank of Baroda (BoB), India’s leading public sector lender with the largest worldwide presence, has announced that it has opened a new electronic banking service unit (EBSU) in Abu Dhabi.

According to the sources, the bank already has six full-fledged branches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The source also said that Mr. Talmiz Ahmad, India`s Ambassador to the UAE and managing director M.D. Mallya kicked off the unit at the Mussafah area of the UAE capital.

Presently, 33 million customer base of BoB is spread throughout the globe with an abroad presence in 25 countries with 72 offices.

To further expand its business foothold, the bank is searching the options to open 10 more overseas branches during fiscal 2008-2009.

According to the reports, the proposed unit is the second BoB EBSU located in UAE, the other one being in Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The reports further revealed that the bank is aiming on non-Indian clientele and local people for staffing needs.
