BMW sales zoom 14% in Jan-July

BMW, the German luxury carmaker, has been ruling the Indian luxury car segment in India.
BMW has recorded a 14% increase in the sales during the first seven months of the year.
BMW India had sold around 2,008 cars in the first seven months period of the year as against 1,763 cars in the same period last year.
This helps BMW to hold the top position in the high-end segment.
Now BMW India is planning to roll out two more models named as ‘BMW Z4 series’ and ‘BMW 7-Series’ in India by the next two months.
As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz has noted 21.02% decrease in the sales at 853 units in April-July period of 2008-09, while its competitor BMW India showed a growth of 12.76% at 1.016 units in this financial year.
Talking to media persons, BMW India President, Peter Kronschnabl said, “After seven months, we are number one. Our target is to stay number one in 2009 and we are very much on track, our dealership expansion programme is completely on track and we have finalized our partners in cities such as Cochin and Jaipur. Many of the outlets are under construction.”
Presently, Company is targeting to sell more than 3000 cars in the current year.
