The Supreme Court has allowed TVS Motor Company to sell its bike ‘Flame’. A legal dispute took place between TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto, as Bajaj Auto Co said that TVS Motor was illegally using its technology of twin spark plugs in their bikes and thus TVS Motor Company should not be permitted to manufacture and sell ‘Flame’ bike.
However, a bench comprising Justices Markandey Katju and Asok Kumar Ganguly, has turned down the plea of Bajaj Auto Ltd that TVS Motor Company is using its technology and gave green signal to TVS Motor to sell its new bike in the market.
In a statement, SC said, “TVS is entitled to sell its product Flame containing three valves and two spark plugs.”
On the other hand, Bajaj Auto said, “In the interim, TVS has been allowed to sell its bikes with twin spark plugs, with a Court Receiver being appointed.” Bajaj Auto Ltd had filed two petitions in the High Court for stopping TVS Motor Company from marketing its Flame motorbike.
