IPTV Subscriptions Ready To Hit 10.2 Cr Mark In Next Four Years

According to Multimedia Research Group Inc. forecasts, the IPTV subscriptions allover the world will hit 102 million mark by the next four years (2014).
That's a 25 per cent CAGR, which will come, the research said, regardless of continued difficult economic time.
The proceeds from IPTV service will hit $46 billion by 2014 as operators are making continuous attempts to boost penetration and lift average revenue per user (ARPUs).
The report said that over 800 carriers are providing IPTV services to approximately 4-crore subscribers throughout the world.
This produces around Rs 79,386.89 crore ($17 billion) in revenues at the moment.
The report stated that the carriers are utilizing a mix of fibre optics in aggressive market zones and advanced DSL like channel bonding and VDSL2 in less competitive markets, the report said.
Jose Alvear, IPTV analyst who wrote the report stated, "For many IPTV operators, STBs make up more than 70 per cent of the capex expenditures."
By the year of 2014, Europe will have 45% of the worldwide IPTV market, Asia will be on the second place at 31%, North America will be the third at 19% and around 5% will be divided among other nations.
In the North American market, Verizon and AT&T have added approximately 10 lakh subscribers during the last year.
By the next four years, around 23 carriers, mostly in Asia and Europe, will have surpassed the 10 lakh-subscriber mark.
