Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has made announcement about the commercial launch of its much-awaited car Micra, the company's first locally-made car and its first in the mass section.
The company said that the delivery of its newly launched car 'Micra' will start from Thursday at a starting cost worth Rs 3.98 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
The company also declared the costs of the three Micra editions, which include the base XE edition beginning at Rs 3.98 lakh, the mid-level XL available at a price of Rs 4.69 lakh and the top-end XV available at a price of Rs 5.28 lakh.
In a declaration, Nissan said, "Nissan has adopted a uniform pricing policy across the country to offer a fair and equitable benefit to customers all over India. Thus, the ex-showroom prices will be uniform pan-India, except for states/cities where differential VAT, entry tax, octroi and other local taxes applicable would be levied extra."
Micra's entry in the market has jam-packed the small car market arena, which accounts for 30% of overall sales.
The price of Micra is set below Volkswagen's Polo's Rs 4.4 lakh tag (in Delhi), however, it is costlier than the GM's Beat and Ford's Figo, which are priced over Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Mr. Abhijeet Pandit, Vice-President, Sales, Marketing & After Sales, Hover Automotive India, which is handling sales and marketing of Micra, said that the new car had more than 2,000 bookings that surpassed Nissan's anticipations.
Nissan has also decided to roll out Micra's diesel edition before 2010 end.
