Bajaj Auto Q1 Net Profit DoublesIndia's second biggest two and three wheeler company Bajaj Auto recorded a 100% growth in its net profit, which stood at Rs 590 crore during the three month period ended June 2010 as compared to Rs 293 crore during the same period of 2009-10.

For the first quarter of this fiscal, the total income of auto maker grew by 66.35% to Rs 3,890.06 crore as compared to Rs 2,338.47 crore in the corresponding period of last year.

In a declaration, the company said, "Total motorcycle sales of the company grew by 72 percent. Domestic motorcycle sales grew by 71 percent as against the industry growth of 24 percent."

Bajaj Auto also announced that its popular motorcycle brands such as Pulsar and Discover now brought in more than 80% of domestic motorcycle sales.

During the first quarter of 2010, Bajaj Auto sold 5,66,121 motorcycle units to increase its market share by 3% to attain the mark of 33% as against 30% during the same period of previous year.

The three-wheeler sector also registered its maximum ever volume sales of 99,918 during the quarter after registering an increase of 58%.

During the quarter, the company's exports surged 82% to 3,23,899 vehicles over the same period last year.

The company stated that its board has announced issuing one bonus share for every share held.
