Foxconn has unintentionally poisoned 250 Indian employees following a pesticide spray at its facility in Chennai.
The incident caused all 250 individuals, around half of the staff, being hospitalized, complaining of dizziness and vomiting.
Even though most of them were released after cure, 28 of the hospitalized staff were kept under observation.
Foxconn has temporarily shut down the facility, with a spokesman commenting, "Following this incident, and as a precautionary measure, the company suspended operations at that production facility from July 26 to allow the facility to be checked and cleared by the relevant local authorities."
The news is a rage for the Chinese producer, whose status suffered following an epidemic of worker self-destructions earlier this year.
Following an inquiry of the plant, a delegate from Hon Hai, the Taiwanese company, which possesses Foxconn, stated that the accidental poisoning of its staff may have been caused by the normal spraying of insect killer at the production plant.
