Sensex Hits New Intra Day Peak

The 30-share index Sensex today hit an intra-day peak during noon trade with Asian cues remaining steady.
The Sensex, which belled the day on a higher note at 18,080.29, was trading 18,220.65, up 146.75 points (0.81%) as against its earlier closure at 18,073.9.
In contrast, the broad-based Nifty zoomed 0.9% at 5,465.4.
The BSE midcap index was trading 1.13% up and the BSE smallcap index gained 1.27%.
Other Asian bourses remained stable as optimistic earnings soothed fears over the worldwide economic revival.
Japanese Nikkei gained 0.44% to end the day at 9,253.46 whereas the Chinese Shanghai Composite index gained 0.88% to trade at 2,598.23.
But, Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped a little to rule a modest 0.07% up at 21,120.46.
Overnight, the European bourses recovered slightly with traders purchasing stocks after the recent fall but at Wall Street the benchmark indices ended lower for the third day over unsatisfactory jobless claims statistics.
