The 30-scrip index BSE Sensex lost 20.45 points to trade at 18,205.90 during the morning trade from its last closure of 18,226.35.

The Sensex was moving negatively on account of less demand from local operators.

Meanwhile, the Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) surged 11.70 points to trade at 5,489.60 in morning.

A mixed reaction was witnessed among the sectoral indices.

The HC, Metal, Auto, Oil and Gas, CG, CD and FMCG remained positive, whilst IT, TECK, Power and Bankex saw selling activity.

The scrips including ONGC, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Comm and BHEL grabbed the investors' interest.

But, Infosys, Tata Power, DLF, Jaipraksh Asson, Wipro, M&M remained weak.

The BSE midcap and the BSE smallcap index climbed 0.5% respectively.

The major gainers in the Sensex included ONGC, which surged 2.52%, Tata Steel gained 1.58%, Jindal Steel up 1.19% and Sterlite Industries remained up by 1.12%.

The top losers list comprised Infosys, which declined 1.77%, Tata Power slipped 1.17%, DLF dropped 1.15% and JP Asso fell by 0.96%.
