Hyundai August Sales Jump 17.2%

India's second biggest car maker, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has recorded an increase of 17.2% in its monthly sales during the last month (August 2010) as against the corresponding period of last year.
Company's total sales during the month under review remained at 50,636 units as compared to 49,521 units in the like period of 2009.
Mr. Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, HMIL stated, "We expect the demand in the domestic market to be even stronger in the coming festival season."
The domestic sales stood at 28,601 units from 24,401 units during August 2009..
The company reported a decline of 12.3% in its month exports figure, which stood at 22,035 units as against 25,120 units in August, 2009.
HMIL stated that it sold 45,804 A2 segment cars comprising Santro, i10 and i20, whereas A3 Section cars such as Accent and Verna sold around 4,806 units and A5 segment's Sonata stood at 26 units.
During the last month, HMIL has raised the car prices by around 1.2% across all its models.
The company has also declared that the novel rates would be applicable from September 2010.
"There has been an increase in the input costs for car manufacturers. We have tried to absorb as much of the cost as we can, to cause less inconvenience as possible to our customers", Mr. Arvind Saxena added.
