Coal India Ltd (CIL) registered an increase of 16.9% in its net sales, which stood at Rs 22,525 crore for the first six months of the existing financial year.

During the corresponding period of the last fiscal, CIL had net sales of Rs 19,269 crore.

Net profit during the period under review grew by 29% to Rs 4,020 crore as against the net profit of Rs 3,115 crore during the same period of 2009.

But, EBITDA margins during the same period declined 16.6% as compared to 12.17% registered during the same period of 2009.

Earlier this month, the company was listed on the stock markets with a fantastic premium of 17%, providing investors bigger returns.

CIL chairman and managing director Partha S Bhattacharyya stated, “We will continue to have Ebitda growth of 30% and we will have our capacity fully ramped up by 2017.”

Today, the stock of the company ended the day at Rs 320, down 4%, on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The volume of the shares traded stood at 4,036,874.
