TN Administration For Removing Sugar From Futures TradingTamil Nadu administration today declared that it would take up matter of getting rid of sugar from futures trading with the Centre government with the aim to keep its rate under check.

A verdict regarding this was taken during the assessment meet headed by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on the price matter.

The meeting was attended by his Deputy M K Stalin, Finance Minister KAnbazhagan and Food Minister E V Velu and top functionaries.

According to government release, "Sugar, which was previously removed from futurestrading, has been been re-introduced in it by the Centre. Tamil Nadu Government will write to Finance Minister PranabMukherjee requesting that sugar be excluded from futurestrading."

It has also been determined to append 25 farmers' market to the subsisting 152 across Tamil Nadu.

Measures would be accepted to introduce vegetable sale counters incorporation limits where veggies obtained directly from the centres of production will be sold to users.

PDS shops will maintain sufficient stocks of pulses as well as other important items to be circularized to the holders of card.

The release added that the vegetable rates apart from potato were rising, and this was owing to the recent floods but added prices of veggies were likely to decline in a week or two following supply increase.
