Consumer Care Surge 21% In Oct-Dec Quarter

Buoyed by rustic as well as global sales, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCL) recorded a 21% increase in its income, which stood at Rs 695 crore for the three month period ended December 31, 2010 as against the same period a year ago.
WCCL's EBIT during the said period grew by 14% to Rs 85 crore.
The company registered an operating margin of 12.3% for the three month period ended December 31, 2010.
Its institutional biz increased 28% headed by its LED group, green lighting and finest launches in the furniture sector.
Commercial lighting biz surged 26%, whereas the furniture segment increased to 32% from 17% during the December quarter.
The company's household biz climbed about 30% as against the same period of 2009.
WCCL said that it has been capable of changing the Yardley brand to draw youth.
It was previously comprehended as a brand, which grandmothers used.
Vineet Agrawal , president of WCCL, stated that clients have taken a taste for its variety of deodorants . Earlier, the demand was bigger for talcs.
The Yardley biz gained 28%.
The flagship brand Santoor increased 13%, mainly owing to rustic markets.
