Inflation Surges To 10.05%

 Inflation Surges To 10.05% For the week ended March 12, the country's annual rate of food inflation increased to 10.05% after declining for three consecutive weeks.

Food inflation, which was dropping since early March, was recorded at 9.42% during the last week.

Limited facts on the WPI issued by the commerce and industry department also showed a spike in the index for primary articles that surged from 12.31 to 13.53% for the week under review, whilst that for fuel remained unaltered at
12.79%.

Country's inflation rate continues to remain sharply higher than the comfort zone of both RBI's 4-5% and the administration, which previously stated that the rates will be reined in to no more than 5%.

Following are the twelve-monthly increase and decline in rates of some main commodities that form the sub-index for food articles:

Onions: 10.8% Vegetables: 11.2% Fruits: 23.6% Potatoes: 2.82% Milk: 6.63% Eggs, meat, fish: 13.21% Cereals: 4.45% Rice: 2.75% Wheat: 2.15% Pulses: (-)3.78%
