The administration is said to have clarified the name of Pratip Chaudhuri for appointment as SBI Chairman.

Managing Director R Sridharan is functioning as SBI chairman at the present after O P Bhatt retired in March 2011.

Mr. Sridharan will retire during June this yera.

Chaudhuri became the part of SBI team as a PO in the year 1974.

After that, he turned the deputy managing director (international banking) during April 2009.

As per sources, the administration has also elucidated the names Hemant G Contractor, Diwakar Gupta and A Krishna Kumar for promotion as MDs in SBI.

The search board, led by RBI Governor D Subbarao, had taken interviews of 4-5 candidates during December 2010.

The SBI board consists of an executive chairman and two MDs.

After revisions to the SBI Act, the Indian administration, which possesses around 59% equity stake in the bank, can sign up two more MDs.
