Tata Motors is on the verge of deciding a production location for its small as well as cheapest car Nano at an overseas location.

Tata Motors said that the overseas location could be either in Latin America, South East Asia or Africa.

A senior Tata group representative stated that the auto major was researching a range of options at various places and eyeing uninterrupted supply chain for the components.

Tata Industries Managing Director Kishor A Chaukar said, "The work is at a very high stage."

Tata Industries is one of the investment divisions of the Tata Group.

Chaukar also said that the company is looking at different regions like Latin America, South East Asia and Africa.

"They are looking at any of these possibilities."

Aside from looking at land building facilities accessibility, the company will look at supply chain availability and at the approachabilities of market areas.

Nano is now made only at Sanand in Gujarat for the Indian market.

In the year 2009, Tata Motors launched the European edition of Nano -- Nano Europa -- at the 79th Geneva Motor Show.
