NTPC Inks Pact With MoP, JICA

India’s major power producer NTPC has made announcement that the company has clinched a pact with Ministry of Power (MoP) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to undertake joint project with technical assistance of JICA experts for `Study on enhancing Efficiency of Operating Thermal Power Plants in NTPC – India` in New Delhi.
The source close to the company said the proposed pact the outcome of talks under Indo-Japan Energy Dialogue.
According the sources, the study will be carried out and unified by NTPC-Centre for Power Efficiency & Environmental Protection [CENPEEP], which is a group specifically working on `Efficiency Management System` and GHG reduction for power plants in India.
The sources further revealed that the proposed study has two motives namely to identify arenas for efficiency increasing in selected coal fired power plants of NTPC and to learn relevant skills and technologies from Japanese experience.
According to the reports, the study is scheduled to be completed in two fiscals. The outcome of this study program will also open up further cooperation possibilities between the two countries in this area.
Stock NTPC ended the day at Rs 151, up 7.58 percent on Bombay Stock Exchange (NSE). The total volume of shares traded was 1,543,285 at the BSE.
