Temasek’s decision of investing in Asia has benefited its portfolio. In the economic year 2011, Temasek has done 13 major investments. Out of 13 investments, nine were done in Asia. The slowdown in the market and the Greece crisis didn’t mar the portfolio of the investment company.
It has been reported that during the year, the company sold out several of its investments including stakes in Singaporean beverage group Fraser & Neave, Hana Financial of South Korea and Australia’s Fortescue Metals. Besides, it continued to consolidate its bank holdings by selling down its stakes in the Bank of China and China Construction Bank. Even after selling its banking stakes, the company is optimistic in China.
The Singapore investment company, Tesmaske, has revealed that for the 2011 fiscal year, the company’s portfolio has increased by S$7bn to S$193m (US$157bn). It also informed that its group net profit has more than doubled to S$13bn. The profit has resulted from the investment activities in Asia.
Meanwhile, the company has revealed that the Head of the Fullerton Financial unit of Temasek, Francis Rozario, will be retiring at the end of the month. Rozario also plays the role of senior adviser for the investment activities. After retiring from the post of Head he will continue to work as senior adviser.
