Undoubtedly, Bharti Airtel is India's largest mobile services operator but soon this largest operator will be splitting its businesses into two broad verticals, reason being stated as a part of a restructuring exercise for its India and South Asia operations by the company.
According to the company officials, the restructuring entirely intend to streamline the business and same will be effective from August 1. Following which, the mobile, tele-media, digital TV and other new businesses will face the consumer thereby forming the business-2-consumers (B2C) unit whereas the business-2-business (B2B) vertical will continue to focus on serving large corporate and carriers.
Also, it was admitted by the company that the action would result into job realignment but it was still remained unclear that what would be the number of the jobs that will be lost subsequently post action.
"There will be some roles which will be redefined, many will also be enhanced. Some of these synergies will come through now, others will come over time. Largely, we expect the natural attrition to take care of job redundancies that emerge as a result of this, we will try and mange the others through our ecosystem of group companies and partners," a company spokesperson told TOI an email reply.
