Qantas Airways CEO announced that to cover up the losses it has made in international operations, globalization, and partnerships with other major global airlines and expansion of services is crucial.
Chief Executive Alan Joyce publicized that Qantas might have to lay off the extra staff, it has recruited in its homeland. He also warned that some tough changes could also take place, which would be mandatory to tackle inefficient maintenance operations. He said that changes in some parts of business won’t work; they have to make every part of their business efficient and updated.
He asserted that their survival and success is not sure.
Last month only, Qantas announced that they would make cuts in its international operations. The news broke, amid reports, that it was trying to set a new premium carrier based in Singapore. The announcement of which would be publicized on 24th August.
Joyce told that it had seen branding opportunities in China and has also witnessed the success of the carrier's low-cost subsidiary Jetstar in Asia.
Andrew Orchard, a Hong Kong-based analyst for RBS told that air travel market in China is quite favorable, and most of the airlines would be looking at China only.
Dangers for Qantas airlines seem to have no end, as it was declared by Joyce that Qantas could also face unrest from aircraft engineers and pilots. Joyce told that for now he could not see any sacred ground.
