Apple Sales Increase in China

Apple witnesses a gain in the sales of its products in China by 6 times, by the first quarter of the year ended in June, in comparison to the sales previous year. The Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, the sales grew mainly in the mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, amounting to revenue of US$3.8 billion in the quarter.
From past three years the revenue generated from China sales amounted to $8.8 billion. According to Tim Cook, sales from china held the major amount in the overall revenue of $28.57 billion, which increased by 82% in June from the previous year’s.
The major sales were accounted in Apple’s iPhone; the sales grew by 250% from the sales recorded previous year in the first quarter. The iPhone 4 was launched in China markets in September last year, the device was in huge demand just after its launch and the company was unable to fulfill the demands. As per a source, China is the main market for mobile handset comprising of 900million users.
The popularity of the iPhone has been an advantage to China Unicom, the one and only mobile carrier offering the iPhone in the country. Apple is also in talks with the country's two other mobile carriers, China Mobile and China Unicom, to offer the iPhone who possess together more than 700 million mobile phone users.
