The property developers and entertainment groups have been designing and developing new theme parks, resorts and casinos in Asia. Goddard and many competitors have been travelling all over Asia to set up the new amusement parks.

Disney will be coming up with its park in Shanghai in 2016. In the year 2014, the Pasadena-based Hettema Group will come up with Hello Kitty Park, in the southwest of Shanghai. Beijing will have a new park in 2014, as a Burbank-based Thinkwell Group has been working on Monkey Kingdom Park that will be based on a classical Chinese epic novel.

Joe Jackson, Father of late Michael Jackson, has planned a $2 billion, five-star hotel and an amusement park for southern Vietnam which will be ready by 2014.

An annual report on theme park development by consultancy Aecom, stated, "The growth of the middle class in Asia is phenomenal and will drive huge investments in theme parks in the coming decade".

Hettema Group President, Phil Hettema stated that every week, new upcoming projects in China have been revealed; this indicates the growing market, as a huge section of people were seeking the family entertainment places.

As in Macau, Casinos were legal and so, a lot of casino-resorts will be introduced in the city.
