Analysts have revealed that Australian carrier, Qantas has announced to focus on the Asia region as Asia is reported to be the world's fastest-growing aviation market, and they have also planned to launch two Asia-based airlines and buy around 110 new Airbus planes.
"It's the growth market. The domestic market is mature with increasing competition, so this is pretty much a no-brainer. It will create a lot of positives in the medium to long term", says Peter Harbison, Executive Chairman of Centre for Asia-Pacific Aviation (CAPA).
The airline has reported that its international operations are expected to post a pre-tax loss of Aus$200 million ($210 million) in 2010/11. A Hong Kong-based analyst, Robert Bruce told that the Qantas's problems have been compounded by neglecting the Asian routes.
CAPA has claimed that their movement to Asia would help them to pay the debts and taxes.
They have also said that the present losses of 1000 jobs could be proven beneficial in the upcoming future as they are planning to enter Asia-Pacific region which would help them to make profit.
Moreover, Chief Executive Alan Joyce claimed that within 20 years, around 16% of the world's middle-class would settle in East Asia region.
