Apple Going Strong in Greater ChinaApple surpasses Lenovo in its sales in the second quarter of the financial year in Greater China. The increase in sales takes place with the increase in the demand of iPhones, iPads and Macintosh computers.

The third biggest computer manufacturer Lenovo witnessed an increase in the sale by 23.4% amounting to $2.8bn. The increase in the sales of Apple was witnessed mainly in Hong Kong and Taiwan, an increase by 6 times amounting to $3.8bn.

According to Jenny Lai, Head of Taiwan Research, the difference of $1bn between the sales of the two companies cannot be reduced with concentration on Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Lenovo witnessed gain in the markets of various other countries and in the last quarter it surpassed Acer and stood at the 3 rd place among the best computer manufacturing companies, as per IDC. Even in North America, Lenovo’s sales increased 30.8 % against a loss by 4% in 2010.

Liu Chuanzhi, Lenovo’s Chairman said that the US market has “already become an important pillar of Lenovo’s profits”, compared to a $9m loss a year ago. What a difference a year makes”.

Though the company did not reveal about its sales record in the second year, company’s CEO Yuan Yuanqing is expecting a better sale record than previous year.
