Is Qantas Heading for Asian Push?

We all know that Qantas is Australia's national flag carrier, which primarily sponsors national sports teams like the Wallabies, the Socceroos and Australia's Olympians.
The airline is even known for its sentimental advertisements featuring the Peter Allen hit ‘I Still Call Australia Home’, and its sponsorship of national sports teams like the Wallabies, the Socceroos and Australia's Olympians.
Following the spirit of above actions, Qantas also mounted breakfast news in which it showed that Cadel Evans is stepping down from a parked Airbus 380 recently when he made his homecoming to Melbourne after winning the Tour de France, even though he had actually touched down on some other plane earlier in the morning.
But this time, Qantas stands in front of a big accusation. There are reports that it had plans to use Australia not so much as a home but as a layover. The above reports actually followed the announcement of a corporate-restructuring, which said that it will be seeing the expansion of the airline's operations in Asia.
Qantas also has plans of launching two Asia-based airlines, including a budget airline operating out of Japan. Though no base has been decided yet for its other nameless joint-venture, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur could be in the option list as they are among potential hubs.
But the company is said to be facing long-term structural challenges. The announcement has inflamed parliamentarians: "I think its official, Qantas can no longer call Australia home", said Senator Nick Xenophon.
