China’s second largest mobile operator, Unicom said though they have registered 9% fall in their first quarter profit, the low was not that deep as it was expected, and the credit goes to booming sales of Apple Inc's iPhone, as only it is left in the country which sells Apple's iPhones.
The report of the fall came into lime light when two other mobile companies revealed their first half earnings. China Unicom reported a net profit of 2.65 billion Yuan ($414.3 million) for first six months which is low, when compared to last year’s amount, which was 2.92 billion Yuan. While the other two companies, one being China Mobile reported 6.3% rise amounting to 61.3 billion Yuan and second company was China Telecom, which posted net income profit of 9.81 billion Yuan or 8.1%.
Unicom officials said their consumer base has increased by the rate of 1.17% monthly to 183.74 million in July. They have positively increased their sales and also designed some active market policies in terms of 3G products, subsidies, terminals and channels.
China Unicom stated, "In the second half year, the company intends to adhere to its development strategy to seize market opportunities, accelerate large-scale development and strive for faster growth in revenue, significant improvement in profitability and further enhancement of overall strength and market position”.
