According to reports, Japan’s Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda could probably become the next Prime Minister of the country, as he has been selected as the leader of the major Democratic Party in the country.
Also, the contest for leadership got to a ‘run off’ right after all the candidates who participated did not get the majority in the first part of the vote amidst the leading parliament’s party members.
A political analyst Hiro Katsumata stated: “Noda needs to call for a national election within the next two years no matter what. The main challenge for Mr. Noda will be the cohesion in the party and to win in the national election".
Hence, Mr. Noda will take over his predecessors Naoto Kan, who is said to have resigned as the leader of the party as well as the Prime Minister. He quitted on Friday following criticisms regarding the way he handled the earthquake in March as well as Tsunami.
Moreover, there has been a question regarding if the next leader will rise above the challenges Kan could not handle and prove to the country his ability to be decisive amidst series of turmoil taking place in the country with the economy.
