Scarcity of International Schools in Hong KongHong Kong realizes that the scarcity of intercontinental schools at its place may decline its position in the markets overseas. The main threat that Hong Kong faces it’s from Singapore.

The international schools in Hong Kong were facing a long list of applicants, and the school authorities who have been assuring to place the children in the schools. The problem is that the numbers of applicants have surpassed the number of seats in the international schools.

On the other hand, China has 36,000 international schools. Hong Kong needs to balance the acute shortage to accommodate pupils in the primary sections of the International schools. As per the statement of a study commenced by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, "The inability to readily access a high-quality international standard education is detrimentally affecting businesses across Hong Kong”.

Also, Heather Du Quesnay, Chief Executive of the English Schools Foundation ESF. L, revealed that the number of applicants has surpassed all the previous records. It is the shortage of seats at the schools which forces the parents to shift to some other city for the sake of children’s education.

The yearly school is $23,100 at the Hong Kong International School and $12,500 for an ESF secondary school.
