Android Mobile Phone App Downloads May Surpass Apple: OvumOvum has revealed that the mobile phone app downloads may go up to 14 billion in the Asia Pacific region by 2016.

If to talk about this year, the application market in Asia Pasic region will witness 5 billion downloads by the end and the incomes will be more than $US871 million.

Last year, the count was 1.6 billion apps downloads and the revenues generated were nearly $US 302 million.

Ovum analyst Nick Dillon has notified that Android will do much better than Apple in the Asia Pacific region, as the downloads will be around of 1.8 billion in Android case and nearly 1.5 billion in Apple’s case this year. The trend will follow in the coming years as well.

Last year, the scenario was different. Downloads were 424 million in Apple’s case, with Android getting 244 million downloads.

However by 2016, the Android phone application downloads will reach 6.07 billion and iPhone application downloads will reach 3.4 billion, in the region.

According to Dillion, though the download numbers of android will exceed the number of downloads for Apple, but iPhone will still dominate the Asian Pacific region on revenue basis.
