India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry (IMCI) has notified that the Friday's joint meet of India and Canada has productively settled all the matters regarding the Foreign Investment Protection Agreement (FIPA) and the Bilateral Social Security Agreement (BSSA).
India IMCI Minister Anand Sharma negotiated with Canada's Minister of International Trade Edward Fast, where both came to the conclusion of resolving all the matters related to FIPA and BSSA which will now ensure investment flow and social security in the two states.
The Indian minister asked his counterpart to organize a summit where the business agendas of the two countries could be discussed. He also asked Mr. Fast to intensify the supply of Potash to India and told him that the suppliers have been demanding a quote of more than $500 per tonne, though Indian companies do not expect the price to go above $420 per tonne.
Mr. Fast's attention was also drawn towards the strict Visa policies of Canada that has become an obstruction between the trade services of the country and the IT sector.
Mr. Sharma stated that the Canada "should urge their businesses to enter into long term agreements with the Indian buyers on commercial terms".
