Young Singaporeans Lack Knowledge about Contraceptives

According to a survey conducted by Bayer healthcare, in entire Asia-Pacific, Singapore in one such country where maximum number of people have unprotected sex with new partners. In particular, eight out of ten Singaporeans do not believe in using contraceptives.
In July, there comes the World Contraception Day and a survey was conducted to highlight the importance of the particular day. The results have been released today.
Around 1,800 respondents aged between 20 and 35 were questioned about precautions they use while having sex with new partners. Among these, 100 were Singaporean men and 100 were women. Among these 200 Singaporeans, a very few people were aware of the contraceptives are advisable to use while having sex. Most of them lacked the suitable knowledgeable about them.
In fact, 25% believed that instead of using of contraceptives, a good way of preventing pregnancy is to either take bath after sex, or rinse the genital area with Coca-Cola.
Also, it has been found that most of the young Singaporeans came to know about contraception either through Internet or from their friends and peers. Considering this, Professor P. C. Wong said that there is an immediate demand for introducing much more reliable source of information.
